On the network managed by FERROVIENORD and on the "Passante" (the rail S-link of the metropolitan area) of Milan (which is managed by RFI), Trenord provides both regional and suburban transport services, and, thanks to the Malpensa Express, the only railway link between the capital of Lombardy and the Malpensa intercontinental airport, running a total of 800 trains a day with more than 53 million passengers a year.

FERROVIENORD manages a rail network that covers more than 300 km, with 120 stations, across 5 lines, in the northern suburban areas of Milan and the provinces of Milan, Varese, Como, Novara and Brescia, with 800 trains a day (one every 3 minutes from and to Cadorna railway station).

In addition to the management of the train related transport service, FERROVIENORD is also responsible for the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the railway network, the upgrading of said network and the installation of new equipment, operating in synergy with NORD_ING.

With more than 6 million passengers a year, more than 10 million bus/km and more than 200 buses, FNM Autoservizi provides out-of-town public transportation within Lombardy in the provinces of Milan, Como, Varese and Brescia, and integrates passenger train services provided by LeNORD.

NORDCARGO, which operates exclusively in the freight transport field, was the first company to exploit the liberalisation of the transport sector in Italy. It can be described as a supplier of rail traction and internationally operates in partnership with various European railway companies.

NORD_ING designs and implements plans aimed at upgrading and modernizing the railway network infrastructure as well as the equipment of FERROVIENORD rail plants.

Created in joint venture between the FNM Group and Telecom Italia, NordCom operates in the information and communication technology market, providing private companies and public entities innovative solutions and integrated systems to ensure comprehensive management of information, processes and knowledge.

60% owned by FNM and 40% owned by Azienda Elettrica Ticinese, Nord Energia aims to set up and manage a power plant and a power line to import electricity from Canton Ticino. The power production capability of the plant will be sufficient not only to fulfil the energy requirements of the FNM Group, but also to allow it to introduce and sell rest of the energy to the market of the Lombardy Region, while also adopting a "strategic security and safety approach" to the network of Canton Ticino.

SEMS provides the public and private sectors with innovative solutions and professional electric or bimodal vehicles which meet all the transport requirements and protect the environment at the same time.

The minority shareholders are Kaleidos (25%), a company that specialises in long and short-term vehicle rentals throughout the country, and Micro-Vett (with 24%), that is the leader on the Italian market - and a very prominent operator in Europe – in the construction of electrical vehicles.
